Roll Triceps Side Lying on Floor

Lying on one side with the lower arm reaching overhead, the back of the upper arm rests on a foam roller and rolls from the elbow toward the armpit.

How to do it

Setup

Side-lying, the lower arm straight overhead with the back of the upper arm on the roller, the head resting on it, knees bent.

Steps

  1. Shift the body up and down so the roller travels from above the elbow to near the armpit.
  2. Roll the chest slightly toward the floor and back to reach both edges of the muscle.
  3. Pause on a tender spot and breathe until it eases, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Rolling onto the elbow: stop a little above it. Shoulder pinching overhead: lower the arm a little until it is easy. Pushing hard through a tender spot: ease off and breathe.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
