Overhead Clap
Straight arms sweep out from the sides and up to clap overhead, then back down; the arms of a jumping jack without the jump.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms at the sides.
Steps
- Sweep the straight arms out to the sides and up overhead.
- Clap the hands above the head.
- Lower the arms the same way to the sides.
Common mistakes
Arching the lower back as the arms go up: ribs down, trunk still. Bending the elbows to reach the clap: keep the arms long. Rushing into a flail: an even rhythm and the whole arc every time.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
