Open Book Stretch
Lying on the side with the knees stacked, the top arm opens in an arc to the floor behind like a book's cover.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on one side, hips and knees bent and together, both arms straight in front.
Steps
- Sweep the top arm up and over in an arc, eyes on the hand.
- Let it open toward the floor behind, knees still together.
- Return along the arc; finish the set, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
Knees sliding apart as the arm opens: keep them pressed so the turn comes from the upper back. Forcing the hand to the floor: open as far as the chest allows. Rushing the arc: sweep slowly.
Breathing
Inhale opening the arm, exhale returning.
