One-Arm Towel Row

Squatting and leaning back on a towel looped around a fixed upright, row the body toward it with one arm; the free hand stays off the towel.

How to do it

Setup

Squatting facing a fixed upright, a towel looped around it at chest height, both ends in one hand, leaning back on a long arm.

Steps

  1. Row the body toward the upright, elbow along the ribs.
  2. Keep the shoulders square; the free arm does not help.
  3. Lean back to a long arm slowly; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Twisting the torso toward the pulling arm: shoulders square. Towel sliding on the upright: loop it around something that cannot move. Hips rising out of the squat: stay low.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale returning.
