One-Arm Front Plank

The forearm plank with one hand at a time taken off the floor and set on the lower back; the trunk refuses to twist toward it.

How to do it

Setup

Forearm plank, elbows under the shoulders, feet a little wider than the hips.

Steps

  1. Lift one hand and rest it on the lower back.
  2. Hold the hips square on the single forearm.
  3. Put the hand down and switch arms for the time.

Common mistakes

Hips rotating open as the hand leaves: widen the feet and brace. Shoulder sinking into the supporting elbow: push the forearm into the floor. Lifting the hips high to make it easier: keep the body in one line.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
