Front to Side Plank

From a high plank on straight arms, turn onto one hand into a side plank with the top arm reaching up, then back and to the other side.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands under the shoulders, arms straight, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Turn onto one hand and roll onto the sides of the feet.
  2. Reach the top arm to the ceiling, hips high.
  3. Return the hand to the floor and turn to the other side.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging as you turn: rotate the body as one piece. Supporting hand drifting ahead of the shoulder: keep it right under it. Top arm flopping behind: reach it straight up over the shoulder.

Breathing

Exhale into each turn, inhale in the plank.
