Mountain Climbers

In a plank, drive the knees to the chest in turn at a fast pace.

Mountain Climbers, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands under the shoulders, body one line.

Steps

  1. Drive one knee toward the chest.
  2. Switch legs in the air, hips level.
  3. Keep the rhythm without lifting the hips.

Common mistakes

Hips piking up: the abs unload; keep the plank line. Bouncing on the toes: the knees travel, not the hips. Hands drifting forward: keep them under the shoulders.

Breathing

Steady rhythm with the legs; never held.
