Lying Supine Straight Knee Raise
Lying on the back with one foot flat, raise the other leg with its knee locked straight, short of vertical, and lower it to the floor.
How to do it
Setup
On your back, one knee bent with the foot flat, the other leg straight on the floor, arms by the sides.
Steps
- Tighten the thigh and lift the straight leg well above the bent knee.
- Pause without letting the knee bend.
- Lower it slowly to the floor; switch legs after the set.
Common mistakes
Knee bending as the leg rises: lock it by tightening the front of the thigh. Lower back arching: press it down; the bent leg keeps the pelvis still. Dropping the leg: lower it as slowly as it rose.
Breathing
Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
