Seated Single-Leg Raise

Seated on the floor leaning back on the hands, one knee bent with the foot down, raise the other straight leg high and lower it.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the floor, hands behind the hips, torso tall, one foot flat with the knee bent, the other leg long.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight leg as high as it goes without leaning back.
  2. Pause at the top.
  3. Lower it to just above the floor; finish the set, then switch.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to lift higher: sit tall; the hip lifts the leg. Knee of the working leg bending: keep it locked long. Heel resting between reps: it hovers.

Breathing

Exhale on each lift, inhale lowering.
