Lying Simultaneous Alternating Straight Leg Raise

On the back, scissor the straight legs past each other: one rises to vertical as the other lowers to hover, a far bigger range than flutter kicks.

How to do it

Setup

On the back, arms by the sides, one straight leg up and the other hovering over the floor.

Steps

  1. Lower the top leg as the bottom one rises, both at once.
  2. Pass the legs near vertical without bending the knees.
  3. Keep scissoring with the lower back pressed down.

Common mistakes

Legs taking turns instead of crossing: they move at the same moment. Lower leg touching down: it hovers just off the floor. Knees bending to speed up: keep the legs long and the pace even.

Breathing

Exhale on each switch, steady in between.
