Lying Prone A

The prone letter raise with the arms low: straight arms angled toward the hips in an A lift off the floor as the blades draw back and down.

How to do it

Setup

Face down on the floor, legs long, straight arms angled away from the hips in an A, forehead down.

Steps

  1. Lift both straight arms off the floor, drawing the blades back and down.
  2. Hold for a beat with the chest still on the floor.
  3. Return the arms to the floor under control.

Common mistakes

Arms creeping out toward a T: keep the narrow angle by the hips. Lifting the head and chest: only the arms rise; the forehead stays down. Bending the elbows to lift higher: straight arms, a small range done well.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
