Leaning Abductor Stretch

Side-on to a wall with the near leg crossed behind, the hips push toward the wall until the outside of the hip and thigh stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on to a wall, one hand on it, the leg nearer the wall crossed behind the other.

Steps

  1. Bend the front knee a little and keep the back leg straight.
  2. Push the hips toward the wall until the outer hip stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Hips drifting forward or back: they move straight sideways toward the wall. Bending the back knee: keep it straight so the stretch reaches the outer thigh. Chest twisting toward the wall: keep the shoulders square.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
