Standing Leg Under Abductor Stretch

Facing a bench back with both hands on it, one leg crossed behind the other, the back leg's hip pushes out to the side until its outer hip stretches.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a bench back, both hands on its top, one leg crossed behind the other.

Steps

  1. Keep the chest facing the bench and the arms long.
  2. Push the back leg's hip out to the side until its outer hip stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then step the feet apart and switch legs.

Common mistakes

Hanging on the bench: the hands steady you; the legs hold you up. Turning the chest away from the bench: keep it square so the hip, not the spine, moves. Front knee locked hard: keep it soft.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
