Lying Abductor Stretch
Reclining on one hand with one leg long, the other knee is crossed over it and drawn toward the opposite shoulder by the free arm; the outer hip of the crossed leg stretches.
How to do it
Setup
Seated and leaning back on one hand, one leg straight on the floor, the other foot crossed over it beside the straight knee.
Steps
- Wrap the free arm around the bent knee.
- Draw the knee across toward the opposite shoulder until the outer hip stretches.
- Hold and breathe, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Slumping back onto the hand: sit tall so the hip, not the back, takes the stretch. Foot sliding away from the straight knee: keep it planted beside it. Twisting the trunk to fake the pull: the chest faces forward and the knee comes to it.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
