Lateral Jump

Jump sideways as far as you can out of a squat, arms driving overhead, and land in a squat; then jump back.

How to do it

Setup

Half squat, feet hip-width, arms low and ready to swing.

Steps

  1. Push off both feet and jump sideways, arms driving overhead.
  2. Land on both feet in a squat, knees over the toes.
  3. Settle, then jump back the other way.

Common mistakes

Landing on the outside edge of the lead foot: land flat, the knee over the toes. Jumping up more than out: aim for distance to the side. Bouncing straight back before the landing is still: settle first.

Breathing

Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
