Kneeling Wrist Flexor Stretch

Kneeling with the palms flat and the fingers pointing back at the knees, the hips sink toward the heels until the inner forearms stretch; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling on a mat, hands shoulder-width apart in front of the knees, palms flat, fingers turned back toward the knees, elbows straight.

Steps

  1. Press the whole palm into the floor and keep the elbows straight.
  2. Sit the hips slowly back toward the heels until the inner forearms stretch.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lean forward over the hands to come out.

Common mistakes

Heels of the hands lifting: keep the whole palm down and sit back less. Bouncing toward the heels: ease back slowly and hold still. Pushing into sharp wrist pain: stop at a firm stretch, never a painful one.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
