Incline Shoulder Tap

The shoulder tap from a plank with the hands on a flat bench; the raised hands make it the gentlest of the taps.

How to do it

Setup

Plank with the hands on the edge of a flat bench under the shoulders, feet wide on the floor, body straight.

Steps

  1. Reach one hand over to tap the far shoulder.
  2. Hold the hips level while the hand is up.
  3. Set it back on the bench and tap with the other.

Common mistakes

Hips swaying toward the lifted hand: widen the feet and brace. Hands placed out in front of the shoulders: stack them under the joints on the bench edge. Rushing the taps: slow, deliberate touches keep the plank still.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
