High Hurdle Jump to Sprint and Cut
A high knee-tuck jump as if over a tall hurdle, a controlled landing, then a short sprint that cuts off at an angle.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, arms ready to swing, open floor ahead and to the side.
Steps
- Jump high and pull the knees up as if clearing a hurdle.
- Land on both feet in a half squat and stabilize.
- Push off the outside foot and sprint a few steps at an angle.
Common mistakes
Sprinting off a wobbly landing: stick the landing first, then go. Cutting off a straight, locked knee: plant with the knee bent and over the foot. Upright torso in the first steps: lean into the sprint.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump and on the push-off, then breathe with the sprint.
