Hanging Tucked Front Lever Hold

The first step toward the front lever: hanging from the bar, the body tipped back level with the knees pulled tight to the chest.

How to do it

Setup

Dead hang from the bar, overhand grip, shoulders active.

Steps

  1. Pull the knees tight to the chest and tip the back up to level, face up.
  2. Press the bar down with straight arms and hold.
  3. Hold and breathe; time it, then lower to the hang.

Common mistakes

Arms bending to hold the position: they stay straight; the lats press the bar down. Back tipping above level: the hips stay at bar height below it. Knees drifting away from the chest: that is the next stage; keep them tight for now.

Breathing

Short steady breaths.
