Hamstrings Lying Stretch

On the back, one straight leg raised and drawn in with the hands behind the thigh; the back of that leg stretches.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, one knee bent, the other leg raised, hands behind its thigh.

Steps

  1. Straighten the raised leg as far as it goes.
  2. Draw it in until the back of the thigh stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Lifting the hips or head to pull harder: both stay down. Pulling behind the knee: hold the thigh or calf. Forcing the knee straight through pain: a slight bend is fine.

Breathing

Exhale drawing the leg in, then breathe evenly in the hold.
