Raised Leg Knee Flexor Stretch

Standing on one leg with the other heel on a bench or table and the knee straight, the trunk folds over the raised leg until the back of the thigh stretches; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg, the other heel on a stable bench or table about hip height, both knees straight, both feet pointing forward.

Steps

  1. Fold forward from the hips over the raised leg, hands along the shin.
  2. Keep both knees straight and the chest over the leg, and hold.
  3. Rise slowly, lift the heel down, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Support too high for today's range: start lower and raise it as the stretch eases. Rounding the back to bring the head down: fold from the hips, chest toward the leg. Bending the standing knee or turning that foot out: keep it straight and pointing the same way.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
