Stability Ball Seated Hamstring Stretch

One leg straight out from a stability ball, heel down, hinge forward over it; the rolling seat makes the trunk hold its balance.

How to do it

Setup

Tall on a stability ball, one leg straight ahead on its heel, toes up, other foot flat.

Steps

  1. Hinge forward from the hips with the chest long.
  2. Stop where the back of the straight thigh stretches.
  3. Keep the bent leg planted so the ball stays still.
  4. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Rounding to reach the toes: hinge from the hips, chest leading. Ball rolling out under the fold: plant the bent leg wider. Pull felt behind the knee: soften the knee a little.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
