Glute-Ham Sit-Up

The glute-ham developer sit-up with the arms crossed on the chest, the torso lowered a little past level and brought back to upright.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the glute-ham developer, hips on the back of the pad, feet locked, legs straight, arms crossed on the chest.

Steps

  1. Lower back slowly until the torso is just past level.
  2. Sit up to vertical with the arms still crossed.
  3. Hold upright for a beat before the next descent.

Common mistakes

Dropping the head far below the hips: go just past level and stop. Arms leaving the chest to swing you up: keep them crossed. Ribs flaring at the bottom: keep the abs tight so the back stays long.

Breathing

Inhale leaning back, exhale sitting up.
