Front Plank with Arm Lift (Push-Up Position)

The same arm lift from a plank on straight arms; the supporting hand carries more of the body, so the shoulder works harder.

How to do it

Setup

Straight arms, hands under the shoulders, feet hip-width, body one line from head to heels.

Steps

  1. Shift onto one hand and reach the other arm forward.
  2. Keep the hips square to the floor through the reach.
  3. Plant the hand under the shoulder and switch arms.

Common mistakes

Supporting hand ahead of the shoulder: stack the shoulder over the wrist. Hips tipping toward the free side: slower reaches, wider feet. Supporting elbow bending: keep that arm straight.

Breathing

Exhale extending, inhale returning.
