Front Plank with Arm Lift

The forearm plank with one arm at a time lifted straight forward; the trunk resists the twist toward the free side.

How to do it

Setup

On the forearms and toes, elbows under the shoulders, feet hip-width for balance.

Steps

  1. Reach one arm straight forward to shoulder height.
  2. Hold it a beat without the hips rocking.
  3. Set the forearm down and reach with the other arm.

Common mistakes

Hips turning toward the lifted arm: feet wider, brace before each reach. Shoulder sinking over the supporting elbow: push the floor away. Hips sagging between reaches: hold the plank throughout.

Breathing

Exhale extending, inhale returning.
