Otis Up
A weighted sit-up that ends in a press: a plate on the chest rides up with the torso and is pushed overhead at the top.
How to do it
Setup
On the back, knees bent, feet flat, a plate held against the chest with both hands.
Steps
- Sit up with the plate held against the chest.
- At the top, press the plate straight overhead.
- Bring it back to the chest and roll down.
Common mistakes
Pressing before you are up: sit up first, then press. Throwing the plate to get up: it stays on the chest until the top. Crashing back down: roll down with the plate held close.
Breathing
Exhale on the press, inhale lowering.
