Face Pull, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Rope on a high pulley, grip the ends thumbs toward you; step back until the arms are long.

Steps

  1. Pull the rope toward the face, splitting the ends past the ears.
  2. Finish with the upper arms in line with the shoulders, elbows high.
  3. Return slowly to long arms.

Common mistakes

Pulling to the chest: that is a row; aim at the face. Elbows dropping: keep them at shoulder height. Leaning back for leverage: stagger the feet and stay tall.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the return.
