Cable Half-Kneeling Face Pull

The cable face pull from a half-kneeling stance, which locks the hips and takes away the lean a standing pull allows.

How to do it

Setup

Half-kneeling facing the stack, rope at about head height, a rope end in each hand, arms long.

Steps

  1. Pull the rope toward the eyes, elbows high and wide.
  2. Finish with the ends split beside the head, elbows level with the shoulders.
  3. Return to long arms without letting the hips shift.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back to finish: ribs down, glute of the down knee tight. Elbows dropping to the ribs: keep them at shoulder height. Front knee caving in: keep it over the ankle.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the return.
