Elbow to Knee Sit-Up

A full sit-up finished by touching one elbow to the opposite knee, sides alternating from rep to rep.

How to do it

Setup

Knees bent, feet flat on the floor, hands cupped at the ears, elbows pointing out.

Steps

  1. Sit up, turning as you rise so one elbow travels to the opposite knee.
  2. Touch the knee with the elbow, not the hand.
  3. Roll back down through the middle and turn the other way next time.

Common mistakes

Reaching the knee by pulling on the head: the turn comes from the ribs. Knee lifting to meet the elbow: the feet stay down and the torso travels. Collapsing back after the touch: roll down under control.

Breathing

Exhale on each twist, inhale returning.
