Decline Twisting Sit-Up

The decline sit-up that turns at the top, one shoulder toward the opposite knee, alternating sides each rep.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hooked on a decline bench, lying back, fingertips at the temples, elbows wide.

Steps

  1. Curl up off the pad, and as you rise turn one shoulder toward the opposite knee.
  2. Turn back to the middle before you start down.
  3. Lower under control and turn the other way on the next rep.

Common mistakes

Turning only the elbow: the shoulder and the ribs must rotate. Twisting on the way down: square up first, then lower. Yanking the head with the hands: the fingertips only touch the temples.

Breathing

Exhale on each twist, inhale returning.
