Elbow to Knee Side Plank Crunch
A straight-arm side plank in which the top knee draws forward as the top elbow comes down to meet it, the hips held up.
How to do it
Setup
Side plank on a straight arm, hand under the shoulder, legs long, the top hand behind the head.
Steps
- Draw the top knee forward and bring the top elbow down to it.
- Touch or nearly touch, the hips staying high.
- Extend the leg and open the elbow back to the start.
Common mistakes
Hips sinking as the knee comes in: keep them lifted; the crunch happens above them. Pulling the head with the top hand: the elbow travels and the neck stays long. Supporting shoulder collapsing: push the floor away through a straight arm.
Breathing
Exhale as the knee travels forward, inhale coming back.
