Mountain Climber (Cross-Body)
The mountain climber with each knee driven across under the body toward the opposite elbow; the diagonal path hands more of the work to the obliques.
How to do it
Setup
Plank on straight arms, wrists under the shoulders, body long, feet a little apart.
Steps
- Drive one knee across toward the opposite elbow.
- Return the foot and bring the other knee across.
- Keep the shoulders over the hands and the hips low.
Common mistakes
Hips piking up as the knee crosses: keep them in line. Knee swinging wide of the body: it travels under the chest. Shoulders drifting back behind the hands: stay stacked over the wrists.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
