Dumbbell Standing High Windmill

The windmill with a dumbbell locked out overhead: the kettlebell windmill's pattern, with a bell balanced in the palm instead of resting on the forearm.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall with the dumbbell pressed up and locked overhead, the feet angled away from it.

Steps

  1. Shift the hips toward the bell's side as the chest lowers sideways.
  2. Reach the free hand down the other leg as far as the hips allow.
  3. Return upright with the bell still stacked over the shoulder.

Common mistakes

Bell tipping in the hand: grip the handle firmly and keep the wrist straight. Looking at the floor: keep the eyes on the bell so the shoulder stays under it. Knees bending into a squat: soft knees, the hips moving sideways.

Breathing

Inhale hinging down, exhale rising.
