Dumbbell Split Jump

A split jump with a dumbbell hanging at each side; the jumps stay short, the legs switching under a steady torso.

How to do it

Setup

Split stance, bells hanging at the sides, torso upright.

Steps

  1. Dip into a shallow split.
  2. Jump and swap the front and back feet in the air.
  3. Land soft in the new split, bells still at the sides.

Common mistakes

Bells swinging with each jump: keep the arms long and still. Landing with both feet in line: keep hip-width tracks for balance. Heavy flat landings: land on the balls of the feet and sink.

Breathing

Exhale on the jump, inhale in the lunge.
