Dumbbell Single-Arm Overhead Carry

The overhead carry with a dumbbell instead of a kettlebell: the weight sits in line with the arm, not behind the wrist.

How to do it

Setup

One dumbbell locked out overhead, the handle level, the free arm relaxed at the side.

Steps

  1. Walk slowly in a straight line.
  2. Keep the arm vertical and the handle level.
  3. At the turn, bring the bell down to switch hands.

Common mistakes

Arm drifting forward of the head: stack the bell over the shoulder. Leaning away from the bell: brace and stand straight under it. Elbow bending under fatigue: lock it or put the bell down.

Breathing

Steady throughout the walk.
