Dumbbell Seated on Stability Ball Shoulder Press
The seated dumbbell press on a stability ball instead of a bench; with no back rest and a rolling seat, the trunk and hips steady every rep.
How to do it
Setup
Seated tall on a stability ball, feet flat and wide, dumbbells at the shoulders.
Steps
- Brace, then press both bells to lockout over the shoulders.
- Keep the ball still under the hips.
- Lower the bells to the shoulders without rocking.
Common mistakes
Feet too close together: widen them until the ball stops rolling. Slumping on the ball: sit tall, ribs over the hips. Bells as heavy as on a bench: go lighter; the ball has no back rest.
Breathing
Exhale on the press, inhale lowering.
