Dumbbell Seated Lateral to Front Raise

Seated, the bells go out to the sides, sweep forward at shoulder height to meet in front, then lower.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the end of a bench, feet planted, bells at the sides, palms in.

Steps

  1. Raise the bells out to the sides to shoulder height.
  2. Sweep them forward at that height until they meet in front.
  3. Lower them in front to the thighs, then start again.

Common mistakes

Arms dropping during the sweep: hold shoulder height through the whole arc. Swinging from the hips: sit tall, lighter bells. Elbows locked hard: a soft bend spares them.

Breathing

Exhale opening the arms, inhale lowering.
