Dumbbell Seated Lateral Raise on Stability Ball

The seated lateral raise on a stability ball instead of a bench; the ball asks the trunk to stay still under the raise.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on a stability ball, feet wide and flat, bells at the sides.

Steps

  1. Raise both bells out to shoulder height.
  2. Keep the ball still under the hips.
  3. Lower slowly without rocking the ball.

Common mistakes

Ball rolling as the bells rise: widen the feet, lighter bells. Slumping on the ball: sit tall, ribs over hips. Shrugging into the raise: blades down first.

Breathing

Exhale opening the arms, inhale lowering.
