Dumbbell Seated Curl

Both dumbbells curled together while seated on the end of a flat bench; sitting takes the legs and the hips out of the lift.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on the end of a flat bench, feet flat, dumbbells hanging at the sides, palms forward.

Steps

  1. Curl both bells to the shoulders.
  2. Keep the elbows at your sides and the back upright.
  3. Lower to straight arms, the bells clear of the bench.

Common mistakes

Rocking back to swing the bells up: sit tall with lighter bells. Bells knocking the bench at the bottom: sit at its very end. Elbows traveling forward: they stay by the ribs.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
