Dumbbell Seated Close-Grip Press

The seated press with the two bells held together in front of the face, palms toward you; the close grip keeps the elbows in front.

How to do it

Setup

Seated upright against the backrest, the bells touching end to end in front of the chin, palms toward you.

Steps

  1. Press the bells straight up, keeping them together.
  2. Finish with the arms straight and the bells over the head.
  3. Lower them together back to the chin.

Common mistakes

Letting the bells drift apart: press them together the whole way; that is the grip. Turning the palms forward on the way up: keep them facing you. Head pushed forward to meet the bells: keep it back against the pad.

Breathing

Exhale on the press, inhale lowering.
