Dumbbell One-Arm Shoulder Press

The one-arm dumbbell press standing, the free hand on the hip; the trunk keeps the body upright under the single bell.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet hip-width, one dumbbell at the shoulder with the palm forward, the free hand on the hip.

Steps

  1. Press the bell overhead until the elbow locks.
  2. Keep the hips square and the torso upright.
  3. Lower it to the shoulder; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Leaning away from the bell to finish: squeeze the glutes and stay tall. Pressing the bell out in front of the head: finish it over the shoulder. Arching the lower back: bring the ribs down before each press.

Breathing
