Dumbbell Kneeling Single-Arm Shoulder Press

The one-arm dumbbell press kneeling tall on both knees; the narrow base and the idle legs leave the trunk to hold the line.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling tall on both knees, hips over the knees, glutes tight, a dumbbell at one shoulder.

Steps

  1. Drive the dumbbell straight up to lockout.
  2. Keep the hips forward over the knees throughout.
  3. Lower to the shoulder; finish the set, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Hips folding back toward the heels: squeeze the glutes and stay tall. Bending sideways away from the bell: shoulders level. Bare knees on a hard floor: kneel on a pad.

Breathing

Exhale on the press, inhale lowering.
