Dumbbell Decline Sit-Up

The full decline sit-up with one dumbbell held upright against the chest; the bell loads the whole climb up the slope.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hooked under the rollers of a decline bench, lying back, one dumbbell held upright on the chest with both hands.

Steps

  1. Curl up the slope until the torso is upright.
  2. Keep the bell pinned to the chest the whole way.
  3. Lower down the bench one vertebra at a time.

Common mistakes

Bell lifting off the chest to throw you up: hug it tight to the breastbone. Tucking the chin hard into the bell: keep a fist of space under the chin. Crashing down the slope: lower as slowly as you rise.

Breathing

Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
