Dumbbell Bear Plank Alternating Row
The renegade row from a bear plank: hands on the bells, knees hovering under the hips, one bell rowed at a time.
How to do it
Setup
On hands and toes, hands on two dumbbells under the shoulders, knees bent under the hips and hovering just off the floor.
Steps
- Row one bell to the hip, the elbow close to the ribs.
- Keep the knees hovering and the back flat as it rises.
- Set it down and row the other side.
Common mistakes
Knees dropping to the floor during the row: they hover the whole set. Hips shifting toward the rowing side: brace; the back stays level like a table. A bell too heavy to stay balanced: a lighter one keeps the base still.
Breathing
Exhale on the row, inhale lowering.
