Diagonal Lunge

A diagonal step into a lunge with a turn down over the front leg, one hand reaching to the foot and the other up.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet together, arms straight out to the sides at shoulder height.

Steps

  1. Step one foot diagonally forward and bend into a lunge.
  2. Turn the trunk over the front leg, one hand reaching to the foot and the other arm up.
  3. Push back to standing with the arms out and repeat to the other side.

Common mistakes

Front knee caving toward the other foot: keep it over the toes. Rounding the back to reach the foot: turn from the hips and reach only as far as the lunge allows. Stepping straight forward: the diagonal is the drill; step out at an angle.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
