Crossover Reverse Lunge
The curtsy lunge with the arms held straight out in front; at the bottom the trunk turns toward the front leg, the clasped hands following.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms straight out in front at shoulder height, hands clasped.
Steps
- Step one leg back and across behind the other, lowering into the lunge.
- Turn the chest and the straight arms toward the front knee.
- Turn back to the middle and drive up through the front foot; alternate sides.
Common mistakes
Front knee caving as the legs cross: keep it over the middle toes. Turning before the lunge settles: land the step, then rotate. Arms bending and swinging: keep them long; the trunk turns them.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale driving up.
