Smith Machine Curtsey Lunge
The curtsy lunge under a Smith bar, the rails holding the bar's path while the back leg crosses diagonally behind the front one.
How to do it
Setup
Smith bar across the upper back, feet under the hips, standing a little forward of the bar's line.
Steps
- Cross one leg diagonally behind the other and lower the back knee.
- Keep the hips square to the front and the bar level.
- Drive up through the front foot and step back to center.
Common mistakes
Standing under the bar's line: step slightly forward so the lunge has room behind. Hips turning with the step: keep them facing forward. Front knee caving: track it over the toes.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale driving up.
