Weighted Cossack Squats

The Cossack squat holding a plate at the chest: sit deep into one hip while the other leg stays straight, toes up, then shift across.

How to do it

Setup

Very wide stance, toes slightly out, a plate held upright against the chest with both hands.

Steps

  1. Sit down into one hip, that knee bending over the toes.
  2. Keep the other leg straight, its toes pointing up.
  3. Push back to the middle and sink to the other side.

Common mistakes

Heel of the bent leg lifting: go only as deep as it stays down. Plate pulling the chest forward: hold it close and keep the torso tall. Rushing the shift: pass through the middle under control.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
