Barbell Curtsey Lunge
The curtsy lunge with a bar across the upper back: the back leg crosses diagonally behind the front one under load.
How to do it
Setup
Barbell racked on the upper back, elbows down, feet under the hips.
Steps
- Cross one leg diagonally BEHIND and lower.
- Keep the bar level and the hips facing forward.
- Drive up and step back to center.
Common mistakes
Bar dipping toward the crossing leg: level shoulders, braced trunk. Front knee collapsing inward: point it where the toes point. Crossing too far: the hips twist; a moderate diagonal is enough.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale driving up.
