Decline Shoulder Tap
The shoulder tap with the feet up on a bench; more weight falls on the one supporting hand, so the core fights harder to stay square.
How to do it
Setup
Feet on a flat bench behind, hands on the floor under the shoulders, body straight from the heels to the head.
Steps
- Raise one hand and bring it to the opposite shoulder.
- Press the floor away with the supporting hand.
- Place the hand back down and tap with the other.
Common mistakes
Hips dropping under the raised feet: squeeze the glutes; the decline pulls them down. Shoulder sinking over the supporting hand: push the floor away. Feet sliding off the bench: set the toes firmly before the first tap.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
